Love One Another
SemiDriven
A while back, the chorus of this song came to me while reflecting on chapter three of the Apostle John’s first letter to various churches in Asia Minor back in the first century. John says to his fellow Jesus-followers in verse 18 (I'm paraphrasing): Don't merely say that we love each other -- let's show it by our actions. That got me thinking. Our world tends to “love one another" as long as that other individual, culture, and/or country thinks along similar lines regarding identity, values, politics, religious views (or lack thereof), etc. However, if we're honest, loving one another should transcend whatever opposing viewpoints, imperfections, disappointments, etc., we experience in life as we interact with one another. After all, we're in this life...together.
Having said all that, this song for some of us may be too utopian -- too simplistic. I get that. And I actually agree in the sense that we are unable to truly love one another unless God is acknowledged in a big way.
Whether you agree or disagree, I hope on some level this song resonates with you!
